Privacy Policy

Chorphin — how we handle your data.

The short version: Chorphin stores your household data (chores, groups, meals, shopping lists) in a secure cloud database so your whole household can access it together. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time — right from the app.

1. Overview

Chorphin is a household chore and task management app developed by Grumpz Labs LLC. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Because Chorphin is a collaborative household app, some data is necessarily stored in the cloud so that all household members can see shared chores, events, meals, and shopping lists in real time.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Chorphin, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and display name used to create your account.
  • Household data — chores, tasks, due dates, categories, completion records, shopping list items, meal plans, recipes, events, bills, and bill splits that you and your household members create.
  • Group information — the groups (households) you belong to, your role (admin or member), and your contribution data used to generate the Fairness Dashboard.
  • Push notification tokens — device tokens used to deliver chore reminders and household notifications. These are stored securely and used only to send you notifications you have requested.

We do not collect location data, payment information, contacts, photos, or any other device data not listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to operate the app:

  • Displaying your household's chores, shopping list, meal plan, events, and fairness statistics
  • Sending push notifications for chore reminders, assignments, and household updates (only if you have enabled notifications)
  • Generating the Fairness Dashboard showing contribution percentages across household members
  • Allowing you to invite and collaborate with household members

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the Chorphin service for your household.

4. Data Storage and Security

Chorphin uses Supabase (hosted on AWS in the United States) to store your account and household data. Supabase provides industry-standard security including:

  • Encrypted connections (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit
  • Row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring you can only access data for groups you belong to
  • Encrypted storage at rest

Household data is scoped to your group — other Chorphin users cannot see your household's chores, meals, or events.

5. iOS Calendar Access

Chorphin offers an optional feature to export your upcoming chores and household events to a dedicated "Chorphin" calendar on your iOS device. This feature:

  • Requires you to explicitly grant Calendar access permission
  • Only writes to a separate "Chorphin" calendar — it never reads from or modifies your personal calendars
  • Can be disabled at any time by revoking Calendar access in your device's Settings
  • Exports no data to any external server — calendar events are written directly to your device

6. No Analytics or Advertising

Chorphin does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting technology. We do not track your behavior within the app or share usage data with any advertising platform.

7. Third-Party Services

The only third-party services Chorphin uses are:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and backend services. Your account email, display name, and household data are stored here. Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) — used to deliver push notifications. Apple's privacy policy governs APNs data handling.
  • Apple App Store — used for app distribution. Apple's privacy policy applies to all App Store transactions.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Household data is only shared with other members of your household group within the app — as designed for collaborative use.

We may disclose data if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

9. Children's Privacy

Chorphin is designed for household members aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at support@grumpzlabs.com and we will promptly delete the account.

10. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You have full control over your data:

  • Access and correction — you can view and update your display name at any time in the app's Settings.
  • Delete your account — you can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your profile, all chores you created, and your membership from all groups. This action is irreversible.
  • Leave a group — you can leave any household group at any time. Group data created by you remains visible to other group members after you leave.

11. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and directly associated data are deleted immediately. Anonymized, non-identifiable usage patterns (such as aggregate chore counts) may be retained for app improvement purposes.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
